Gamers Outreach Foundation
For about half a year to a year I’ve helped out a new gaming ‘charity’ organization, Gamers Outreach Foundation. I was responsible for taking the outrageous website which was purchased for a total of $10,000 dollars from Acro Media. Now you’d think something is wrong here… It’s quite weird for a new charity in my opinion to spend this much on a website, especially one for charity. I could go on for days about this because we know this can be done for a helluva lot cheaper than this. I’ve seen some pretty nice work, even coded for under $500-1000.
Recently, Gamers Outreach Foundation and MPCon split due to ‘ideological and fundamental differences’. I would expect even after many numerous conversations with the president of Gamers Outreach Foundation - Zach Wigal that I would be cleared from what I think now is fairly immature. I am not in the business to destroy a organization, I am not that type of person. The real killer is going to do your work and notice you’ve been stripped of almost everything, without notice. I’ve slaved many hours of my life getting this website running and doing what Zach Requests (Which half of the time changes on a daily basis after I complete something). Normally, I would do the same thing in this position to safeguard myself from any misuse but from friend-to-friend you’d think he would listen to what I have to say about this. Because of this - I was not able to retrieve code that I had written for this site that I do not have anymore because of a backup failure. This really is the way to treat your dedicated staff, especially right when you need them the most. I guess there’s nothing I can do about this. Just another ranting blog…and hopefully a warning to people. I didn’t even get to finish my work and patch a few major flaws in the registration and the site in general. Oops.
